what will my perfect fit be?

Having insights from student's who have studied in the university can tell you much more than how the university sells themselves and their programs through their site. This is why as I investigate two completely different careers which I'm both passionate about: Film and Entrepreneurship, I have decided to focus my search in opinions from past students or magazines; the outside picture not what they sell for.
I've found that Film as a career is extremely creative and hands-on, and has no limits to where it can take you. I've also found that it is very demanding, competitive and there's no way you can truly be prepared for the real world in this career given that it's all based in contacts, money, luck and opportunities. The thing is, I love photography, the visual sense to a movie, producing, editing, even the world of acting yet I'm not entirely a fan of MOVIES and hollywood.
YES, it's an incredible way to tell stories and with film you can do much more such as shorts, documentaries and commercials but part of the program FILM and TELEVISION would include studying movies something that I don't picture myself in.

The world of "business" though first sounded very though and manly but I've found that I love to lead, I would love to learn how to speak to big groups of people, media could be used to create innovative presentations and ENTREPRENEURSHIP would allow me to create something of my own. It's inspiring and it's competitive yet it still has no limits at all. When you are your own boss, you have freedom and that is something that I love about this career.
Can you imagine how inspiring steve jobs life was every day? how many things he was able to create? how many people he was able to move?
As I investigated Babson, the #1 ranked university for business in the Princeton review this year, I found that they encourage social entrepreneurship, helping others as you profit from your business. That instantly got me hooked into pursuing this career because even though business can sound gray and dull, INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP has no limits. |
My main priority is the quality of the program, the interactions you have with your mentors as well as students around you, the hands-on opportunities and mentality of the work place. With hundreds of possibilities out there I've realized that the best way to find my best fit college is to judge if it will allow me to do what I'm passionate about through what they offer academically and in their extra-curricular activities. By being "hard" on yourself, finding one that is highly rigorous and makes my college years the most productive and self-boosting experience of your life till the day.
