why surf? It will add immensely to my summer: I will work to become an early riser, it will increase my productivity, expose me to learning different skills in a new environment, push me to take new risks every day and enable me to have quality time with my six year old sister Cali who will also take the class. |
----------------------------------the plan----------------------------------
tuesday 7 | thursdays 9 |
I learned the three steps and position to start on the board which instantly reminded me to the saying we here over and over in school: it's not quantity but quality. Here, it was not about how fast I stood up but about the quality of each step in order to have BALANCE - a skill that I've figured will be vital through out. I was able to stand up in my first wave because I was in full concentration mode. I stood up 4 times and fell 7 and found that how you feel the second you look back at the wave defines how you will perform.CONFIDENCE IS KEY.
Any sport that you practice shapes your life and after the class it was evident that I would have to be open to changing some of my habits:
1. GET A GOOD SLEEP- sleeping late the night before (preferably before or at 10:30) | 2. KEEP A HEALTHY DIET- reminding me to eat a big healthy breakfast before class | 3. BE PUNCTUAL - waking up at 7 to arrive at the class on time | 4. BE PREPARED- always stretch before doing any physical activity |
LOOKING FORWARD TO MAKE THE MOST OF THIS EXPERIENCE!
